Recovery of iron and phosphorus removal from Gara Djebilet iron ore (Algeria)

Purpose. This research aims to promote the assay of iron and reduce phosphorus grade final DRI. Methodology. A high-phosphorus oolitic ore from Gara Djebilet deposit underwent procedure coal-based direct reduction (coal-based DR) followed by wet low-intensity magnetic separation (WLIMS). The effects temperature, periods time Na2SO4 dosage on removal, metallisation degree recovery rate were tried optimised. Furthermore, phase changes in oxides distributing features both reduced materials investigated as well. Findings. appropriate addition sodium sulfate improves Fe-P during DR mixed pellets. Originality. Using additives CaO DR-magnetic pellets sourced deposit. Practical value. results reveal that a powder (DRI) assaying 96 wt% Fe 0.16 P at 97.72% was obtained when ore-coal-CaO presence 5 1250 C for 30 min. Thus, could be used an alternative blast furnace (BF) route steelmaking industry refractory ores.
